Martin (Jean-Hughes Anglade) is a normal worker who meets the reckless and quite deranged Betty (Batrice Dalle). She convinces him that he can be a writer and together they live an intense love, with a tragic end. Having a nomination to the Oscar, I really expected much more of ‘Betty Blue’. The screenplay seems to be inspired in ‘Ragazza di Trieste, La’, which was inspired in ‘Storie di Ordinaria Follia’. Therefore, it is not original. There are too much free frontal nudity scenes of Jean-Hughes Anglade for my taste. ‘Betty Blue’ was the debut on the big screen of the now famous toothy Batrice Dalle. However, I believe the director exposes too much her sexy body because she was an unknown actress. The woman remains naked most of the film. I found it a very disappointing movie for its fame.
